Master Replicas has delivered on the Stargate Atlantis Hero Ship: The Puddle Pulloper, the exploration ship presented in the five seasons and 100 episodes of the show.
It is a great small model that is a bit smaller than the main ships of Stargat like the Goa'uld Ha'tak and the earth Daedalus. But it is not perfect and the jumper was some specific challenges for the designers – especially a complex painting job (some people who commented on our YouTube channel were surprised that the ship is green at all) and the details in the extended drive sticks. In fact, the television series used several VFX houses during its 5-year run, and if you really examine the ship over the years, you will see that it has developed and changed in a subtle way.
Let's take a closer look at that Stargate Atlantis Puddle jumpers. Take a look at the video evaluation or read on to get my thoughts for the latest addition to the collection. Is it worth a place on your shelf?
Goal ship, you have tried
The discovery of the lost city on earth the old in 2004 Atlantis Premiere, “Rising”, placed a very cool concept in the fictional universe: a ship that flies through Stargates and enables quick and easy exploration of planets, trade and even stargates that were deposited in space. As a long -time fan, I was particularly excited to hold a Pfütze jumper model in my hands -more than 20 years after the ship's debut.
The model is almost 6 inches long (5.9 inches or 15 centimeters), with a design based on the original digital VFX models provided by the studio. The drive pods are fixed in an open position (no moving parts here) and show some beautiful, fine details inside. Note that the ship's drone weapons are not here: In the show, you are actually in a separate, smaller compartment directly in front of the drive deaths.
The front windshield is semi-transparent darker than in the show, but with direct light you can see the forward compartment with two seats and the center console. This is a nice detail that Master Replicas did not have to record.
The company announces GateWorld that you are interested in producing a version of the jumper with closed drive pods. Hopefully this model sells well enough to support this on the street.
As I said, painting the ship is a particularly acute challenge for the jumper. Master Replicas has done a solid job with various green layers, rust color and some fine weathering details that the ship look as old as it should be. (Remember, none of Atlantis' jumpers is new than 10,000 years!) There are a few places that look a little too close to digital camo for my taste (especially on the rear hatch), but for a model for a price of 64.99 US dollars I am ready to give him a pass.
After all, I have to say that I am satisfied with the size of this model. I wouldn't want it much smaller, and I'm glad that it is not quite as big as the capital in the Stargate line. (Of course, the ships are not all to scale, and shouldn't be.)
But one but …
The puddle jumper receives a solid note From me, but it's not perfect. The bottom of the ship is a gray rectangle that shows some mechanical parts, and although it tries to add some rusted details, it looks a bit cheap overall. As a child, I played with Gi Joe vehicles and put together snatching models, and the lower piece of the Pützer jumper reminds me of these toys. Fortunately, it will not be visible if the jumper sits on my exhibition shelf.
The more important criticism I have with this version is actually the display stand. Master Replicas designs user -defined stands to fit each ship into the fleet, and the puddle sweater is adequately discreet and profiled. It is a clear, plastic I-beam, and the jumper just sits over it. The problem? It is completely flush, without edges or lips to sit in the sweater and prevent the ship from moving.
The model slips and glides really easily. I suspect it is only a matter of time before it rattles off the booth because someone has passed too quickly.
However, if there had to be a blatant problem with this publication, I am glad that it is not part of the ship itself. The jumper was so often rested in the TV series flat on the floor, which triggered the stand here, will not be a big loss. But in the meantime I will search for a kind of sticky tack or anti-slide pads to expand the stand and keep my jumper safer.
Next on
Master Replicas has no plans to stop In its expanding line of licensed Stargate models and in prop -replicas. This includes a zero point module that is now in the design phase – and hopefully it can be delivered with internal components that illuminate it.
We are working on our review of RA's pyramid, which is now shipping. Pre -orders have started for them Determination Stargate (shipping in October) and Master Replicas has a prototype of the Determination Model.
In addition, the company has confirmed that it is working on an Asuran cruiser. This ship is presented in the season three and four of AtlantisSmaller than the Asuran war ship (which imitates the design of the old warship) with a dual tinker in front of the ship. And the artist Replicas uses the conversion of CG files into models. Orion And the ORI warship in his online portfolio.
