M/S Paul Gauguin is about to undergo a multi-million dollar renovation

Paul Gauguin Cruises has announced that the 330 guests m/s Paul Gauguin will undergo extensive renovation during a seven-week dry dock in Singapore from February to March 2025. The multimillion-dollar project will introduce sustainable technology upgrades, a contemporary new look for its Le Grill restaurant, a refreshed pool deck with eight cabana areas, new connecting cabins and the modernization of upholstered furniture throughout the ship.

The design is led by Stirling Design International. Since 1984, the studio has been playing a leading role in the design of the Ponant Explorations Group's new fleet. Highlights of the ship renovation include:

  • Connecting cabins – Eight new connecting cabins on Deck 7 meet the growing cross-generational travel boom.
  • The grill – This pool-adjacent indoor/outdoor restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows is undergoing a complete redesign. Once modernized, it will have a modern look in white with wooden shades, ceramic tiles and decorative trim framing culinary stations, and soft oak furnishings topped by bamboo light fixtures.
  • Pool deck – A new white canopy will shade booth-like seating on the port side of the newly renovated teak pool deck, while the pool's façade will be wrapped by a new mosaic banner. The room will be surrounded by spacious white lounge chairs.
  • Pool bar – To expand the new pool area, the pool bar will receive the same white, wood-carved screens as Le Grill, in addition to new lighting.
  • Soft good improvements – Throughout the ship, both public areas and cabins will see reupholstered furniture and new carpeting, as well as woodwork restorations.
  • Sustainable technology upgrades – Energy performance improvements include advanced heat recovery systems, efficient chillers, an Organic Rankine Cycle system to generate electricity from heat and optimized electric motors, significantly reducing energy consumption. A new seawater treatment system will produce fresh water onboard, while the Nordaq filtration system, which produces drinking water from seawater, will help eliminate plastic water bottles, minimizing the amount of single-use plastic. Waste management improvements include a glass crusher and box compactor for efficient recycling.

As a tribute to the parent company, Ponant Explorations Group, the ship stack will now feature the Ponant three sails logo, made from polished steel and LED backlit for nighttime viewing. Additionally, Paul Gauguin Cruises' signature “P” logo will take a prominent position on Deck 8 forward, while the white hull will receive modern gray accents.

Coming out of dry dock at the end of March, m/s Paul Gauguin will offer two unique voyages as part of its Boutique Crossing Collection 2025 – the 14-day “Immersive Indonesia: Singapore to Australia” departing April 1, 2025 and a 16-day “Crossing Melanesia: Australia to Fiji” departing April 15. April , 2025, as the ship heads home to Tahiti. The ship will then resume its all-inclusive luxury voyage offering with seven to 14-day voyages to the Society Islands, Tuamotus, Cook Islands and Marquesas.
