7 Decorating Trends That Will Be Huge in 2025, According to Pinterest

The year 2024 is coming to an end and there are many aspects of the new year to look forward to: new programs, unforgettable events and of course exciting home trends to try out. After a careful review of its internal data from September 2022 to August 2024, Pinterest has compiled a list of the top trends expected to take hold in 2025.

As we say goodbye to quiet luxury, color drenching, and clustercore, Pinterest gives us a glimpse into the top design ideas that will be appearing in homes in the coming year.

1. Cherry Coded

According to Pinterest, rich reds are trending, pushing neutrals into the background. Lately, deep reds have been trending in many areas of culture – think decoration, fashion and beauty. Nails, lipstick, sweaters and hats have all been influenced by this color trend and are the icing on the cake of any outfit.

Enjoy everything in your home, from cherry red sofas to crimson bedrooms. To incorporate this popular color into your home, consider sprucing up your kitchen with a red bar cart or a set of champagne flutes.

2. Blank canvas

Every part of your home can benefit from a personal touch – even your door frame. In 2025, Pinterest expects increased creativity as people turn their homes into their canvas. Fun and vibrant murals are being painted on furniture, hand-painted accent walls are on the rise, and even door murals are trending next year.

If you see a blank wall in your bathroom or living room, think about refreshing it with some paint and brushes. Even if you don't have artistic talent, murals can range from beginner to Picasso. And if a whole wall seems too daunting, try a smaller scale and a side table or lampshade.

3. Modern Surrealism

2025 will channel a modern take on a 1920s art movement through decorative tablescapes and dreamy soirées. Pinterest predicts a revival of surrealism, with a 70% increase in searches for modern surrealism and a significant increase in the aesthetic explorations of Salvador Dali.

Next time you're hosting, elevate your presentation with modern surrealism. Consider unusually shaped candle holders placed in an extravagant, eye-catching candelabra. Pinterest also sees a 30 percent increase in searches for cakes with bouquets. So for dessert, consider this creative take on a centerpiece by transforming the classic dessert into a collection of wildflowers.

4. Rococo ruffles

In 2024, we saw a rise in Regencycore thanks to a new season Bridgertonbut the inspiration for French decor doesn't stop there. Influenced by the Regency era, Rococo is an architectural style characterized by intricate curved lines, natural motifs, luxurious materials, and pastel tones. In contrast to the Regency style, the Rococo style's emphasis is on ornate decorative patterns and a sense of lightness.

Pastel pink is a definitive color for this late Baroque art style. Consider incorporating the playful hue into your interior design with textiles such as curtains or tablecloths. Rococo is also known for its curved lines, so avoid sharp edges and opt for flowing furniture like rounded sofas.

5. Maximum decoration

Maximalism showed up in bold ways this year and is here to stay, according to Pinterest. According to the report, Generation X and Boomers will combine playful patterns, eclectic aesthetics and unique textures to create spaces full of excitement in every corner.

Contrasting animal motifs, bright colors, statement coffee tables and decorative rugs will evoke a sense of maximalism in your home. Bring unexpected colors into your home with accent pillows or paintings, and even consider unconventional vases for your plants (cowboy boot vase anyone?).

6. Castlecore

Pinterest also spotlights medieval and castle decorations as an ongoing trend. In the Etsy gift trend report this year, the online marketplace also called upon mythical motifs for inspiration. And the dynamic witch duo Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo revived the charm of the castle Evil.

Numerous candlesticks, stone accents, iron or wooden chandeliers, and dramatic tapestries highlight this mysterious decorating theme.

7. Went fishing

Pinterest has embraced a particular nautical trend to inspire those who live where land means sea: the fisherman aesthetic. Sardine decor and even sardine tattoos hit the market this year, and people are discovering a whole aesthetic full of stripes and draped netting.

According to the report, cable knit represents the classic fisherman, and incorporating this pattern can be made easier with a blanket or pillow. Decouple oyster shells as coffee table decorations and don't forget to display your favorite fishing tackle in a wall collage alongside photos from your most memorable trips.
