Committee meeting to present the shipyard – SANIBEL-CAPTIVA

Sara Burke, communications director for the Florida Wildflower Foundation, will present a presentation on “How to Start a Backyard Revolution” at the Sanibel Vegetation Committee meeting on Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in MacKenzie Hall at City Hall, 800 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.

It's about how to incorporate native ground cover vegetation into landscaping.

“Our own health depends on the health of our immediate surroundings. What you plant and how you care for it is important,” she shared. “Learn how changing your gardening habits can help both people and biodiversity, and why it’s especially important here in Sanibel.”

Burke is a communications consultant for community leaders, with a master's degree in digital media and over two decades of international experience. She is an expert at communicating complex information to the public in a way that leads to measurable real-world change.

Burke first visited Florida in 2008 and fell in love with the state's unique ecology. Now she uses her lifestyle and technical publishing skills to help the public learn more about Florida's biodiversity and what it can do to protect and conserve it.
