On Saturday, locals gathered at the historic Suryakund Dham to protest the ongoing fish kill in its sacred waters, blaming authorities' inaction for the crisis.
The demonstration was led by Amardeep, president of the Suryakund Dham Renovation Committee. He pointed to the alarming number of fish deaths since October 29 and accused officials of limiting their efforts to mere inspections without meaningful intervention.
The protesters demanded immediate water purification, desilting of the pond and installation of fountains to increase oxygen levels. Sheetal Mishra, the committee's general secretary, warned that protests would escalate if their demands were not met.
