CLOVER, SC – A solar-powered Domino's is now open in Clover, South Carolina. According to the store, it is the first Domino's location in the world to be powered by solar energy on this scale.
The franchise location has solar panels on the roof, and the company said all of its wood grain panels with the Domino's logo on them are also solar panels.
The lighting in the car park is also powered by solar energy and there are two charging stations for electric vehicles in the car park itself, which customers can use when there is no van parked there.
There are Domino's locations in Australia that have reduced their energy consumption by using solar power systems, but Ryan Swanson, vice president of marketing and restaurant development for York County Domino's, said this is the first Domino's location in the world to also use this the solar parking lights, solar on the side of the building and a roof that is also fully equipped with solar panels.
“We are a family-owned Domino's franchise and wanted to be a role model for the brand with our investment in this technology, which supports the brand's global long-term 25-year plan,” said Swanson.
The location launched with limited hours on Thursday and will begin regular hours on Friday. It is located at 119 Alden Oaks Street in Clover.
