If you've been following Ree Drummond for any amount of time, you're probably well aware that her garden is her pride and joy. Ree spends as much free time as possible in her backyard tending to the seasonal herbs and colorful flowers she grows. (And don't even get us started on her dahlias!)
“If you ever can’t find me, look here,” Ree once said, referring to her garden. For the pioneer, stepping away from the stove and sinking her hands into the earth was a grounding and therapeutic pastime. And since her garden overlooks a tranquil pond and rolling hills, it has become a safe haven for her.
Although tending her garden is usually a solo activity, Ree has been joined by some very special visitors lately – and they're not the ones you'd expect! Yesterday afternoon, Ree shared an Instagram Story revealing the identities of these mystery guests. “They are everywhere right on my doorstep and I am HAPPY,” Ree wrote. In the photo she shared, you can see two beautiful monarch butterflies sitting on a pink flower.
But the butterfly content didn't stop there. In the next slide of her Instagram Story, Ree uploaded a video of the same butterfly duo still resting on that blooming bud. “Wait for it…” she wrote. The clip then shows one of the butterflies spreading its wings wide until its beautiful black and orange pattern is revealed. Shortly afterwards the other one joins in and the two fly away in sync. It's such a breathtaking slice of nature!
In another clip you can see how many butterflies there are – and the sheer number is impressive! There are several monarch butterflies flying in the foreground of the video, and as Ree zooms in, you can see such a large population of butterflies fluttering around her plants. Every now and then they stop at a flower and sit on its petals.
Ree also took the opportunity to rave about Taylor Swift's new album. The life of a showgirlwhich she published a few days earlier. She added the new track “The Fate of Ophelia” as background music for her butterfly clip. Ree admitted: “This song doesn't fit but I love it to death so I'm passing it on to you guys 😊.” She also joked, “I'm practicing the dance, so stay tuned.”
