Bahawalpur: The district administration has committed an ambitious plan of 292 million rupees for the preservation of the historical Farid goal, which is named according to the name of the Sufi poet Khwaja Ghulam Farid.
The nature conservation project also includes the upgrade of the path from the Farid Gate to the historic Nawab Sadiq Abbasis Masjid al-Sadiq in the Chowk Bazaar in Bahawalpur City.
According to Commissioner Musharrat Jabeen, the gate is about a century old and his preservation and restoration aims to pay homage to Khwaja Farid. She said Dawn that in addition to the rehabilitation of the gate, a food street in the Shahi bazaar of the gate is also set up for a variety of food. She added that the entire Shahi bazaar would have tuff tiles and lighting to the Chowk bazaar and then Masjid al-Sadiq.
Ms. Jabeen said that the historic mosque, which was also about 100 years old, would also be rehabilitated.
She regretted that the mosque was neglected by the AUQAF department, which the main benefit was for it because it collected monthly rent in its shops. However, these funds were not properly used for their maintenance.
The official said that the Food Street shops in the Shahi Bazaar had identical signs and multi-colored lights in order to give visitors a good view. She added that shops in the food streets would be modern designs to attract customers and serve various dishes, especially the dishes of this area, including that of Sohanjna, Siri Paey, Patta Daal, Sohan Halwa and Lassi, which is considered specialties of this area.
“Cholistan camels and goat milk, the demand of which is now increasing in all parts of the country due to their use in vegetable medication and the treatment of several diseases.”
Ms. Jabeen expressed the hope that the project would be carried out in the shortest possible time so that it could be ready for guests and tourists to take part in the next international Jeep rally in February.
