Of all the flowers they can grow, there is almost no refined and romantic as the rose. But in the autumn season, you may think more about the cultivation of pumpkins than about these living flowers. However, if you consider adding a variety of roses to your beautiful autumn garden, this is how it works.
Can you plant and grow roses in autumn?
If you are a rose lover, you will be happy to know that spring is not the only season in which you can grow your favorite flower. “Either spring or autumn can be a good time to plant as long as the rose is well rooted and there is enough water after planting,” says Waltz. According to Waltz, the best times of the year to grow roses are after the last frost in spring and at least 6 weeks before the first frost in autumn. “If you plant mere root rose, the cooler spring weather on the plant is easier and gives the rose a lot of time to establish yourself in the vegetation period before the hard winter weather hits hit,” she says.
How to prepare your garden for rose plants
The key to growing a successful rose bush in autumn is to ensure that your floor is full of nutrients for the plant to establish and grow. Roses grow best in the ground, which decreases well, loamy and with pH between 6.0 and 7.0. “Apart from the fact that your floor is right, there is a good way to prepare for autumn plants to pull weeds and remove rubble,” says Waltz. “The change of your floor with a few centimeters of compost or well -administered manure also adds more nutrients for your plants.”
Tips for successfully growing roses in autumn
After preparing the floor (which is one of the main components), you must make sure that you keep pace with the care of the garden and choose the perfect place for plants in your bush. Waltz says that the best place in your garden to found a rose bush is a sunny location that gives your plants 6 to 8 hours of sunlight every day. “As soon as you have found your location, dig a hole about twice as wide and just as deep as the container or the root system of the system. When planting, it is certain that the base of the plant or the crown is to the ground level as soon as you have filled the hole. If you have not yet add it, you can add a compost if you fill back.”
Water is of course another crucial element for growing roses in autumn, with which you have to keep pace for successful flowers. “Water good on the day of planting and then in the future as needed,” says Walzer. “Roses do well with about 1–2 inches of water per week, but are quite drought tolerant as soon as they receive a well -established root system.”
