New plan for a woodland walk adventure playground revealed for The Belfry in Warwickshire

New plans for a woodland adventure playground have been unveiled at a famous golf course in North Warwickshire. The Belfry is not only popular with golfers, but also with families.

As a result, a planning application has been submitted to North Warwickshire Borough Council seeking the green light to create a woodland walk-style adventure playground.

The application states: “The application site includes an existing woodland area within the grounds of the Belfry Hotel and Resort. The woodland area is south and east of the Woodlands Suite guest rooms and south of the Hunters Lodge.”

“The application site is currently used as an existing recreational forest and walking path for guests of the Belfry Hotel and Resort.”

It goes on to explain that there will be an adventure play area and details some of its facilities. This includes a special play area for toddlers and also an “owl play structure”.

“The proposed development includes the creation of an adventure playground which will follow a route along the southern and eastern sections of the existing woodland area at the resort.

“To attract more families to stay at the resort, the hotel is proposing to create a forest path through the existing woodland area as part of ongoing improvement work at the Belfry. Children's play equipment will be installed along the existing pedestrian route in clearings between the trees.

“The adventure route will include various outdoor recreation areas for children, including a toddler play area, an owl play structure, crawl tunnel structures and in-ground trampoline areas. Existing play equipment to the north of the site will be enhanced by, among other things, the addition of cladding.” Suggested materials for the play area include black locust (wood), larch cladding and decking boards, a combination rope, a metal mesh tunnel, a steel slide and play bark.

The plans are currently being examined by district council planning officers. A decision on whether they will be approved is currently pending.
