BOLE, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) — Located in Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Sayram Lake is the highest and largest alpine lake in Xinjiang. After the winter solstice, temperatures around the lake can drop to around -20 degrees Celsius, which can cause the lake to freeze over. The interplay of icy expanses and snow-capped peaks creates a breathtaking panorama that attracts visitors here to witness this extraterrestrial spectacle.
