Meadowcore is the softer cousin of the cottagecore trend, inspired by open fields that were bathed in a late summer light and slowly in the country. While cottagecore is more structured and primer, Meadowcore is natural and romantic and includes the wilder side of nature.
“This gentle trend combines the charm of household life with the playfulness of a wildflower meadow that causes a feeling of nostalgia and joy” Land life.
Jessica Hanley, founder and CEO of Piglet in bed, whose recent collection is full of flowers inspired with Meadow, repeats this feeling. She explains: “Meadowcore is a softer, wilder attitude to the country life of all the afternoons, changing wildflowers and sun-enforced comfort.” The trend is reminiscent of “the feeling of a slow summer day”.
Jessica continued: “It is about hugging imperfection and the calm poetry of rural life, with washed bed linen, vintage flowers and gentle color-like dusty pink, sage and soft blue-and-blue tone for rooms that feel slow, nostalgic and beautifully lived.”
Research from piglets in bed show that Pinterest in the search for vintage-led terms such as 'Nancy Meyers' has increased for an 80% year and 'vintage flower wallpaper' with an increase of 200%. In the meantime, the “Country Cottage Living Room” stood by 30% compared to the year and showed the continued interest in nostalgic decorative techniques that cause feelings of comfort and warmth in contrast to harder minimalism.
This is also reflected in the sale, with piglet in Beds Meadowcore-inspired Posy Bud beds overwhelmed the best-selling botanical gingham bed linen with +55% since the start this year.
What is “Meadowcore” in terms of interiors?
Meadowcore is an eclectic trend, as is tactile fabrics such as floral prints. Think of a contrast of chunky knitting throws and tender, washed bed linen, soft fabrics and natural textures combined with vintage accessories.
The color palette is gentle and reserved, with a faded blue, dark pink, earthy wise green tones and warm yellow entry stages.
Claire Smith, the lawyer of the Cottage Garden master and sustainability, explains that Meadowcore is an “achievable version of the cottagecore trend.
She continued: “In Meadowcore it is about hugging the elements of country life that we can all access: walks in fields, muddy boots, puddle jump, stream wating, yellowed harvest, wild flowers – textures, faded flower substances and corrupt tones.
Meadowcore in the household
In order to bring Meadowcore into the house, interior designers recommend choosing a natural but warm color scheme, laying different textures and prints and adding some bizarre features and vintage details to embody the warmth of this timeless trend.
Natural tones
“To infuse her place with charming Meadowcore mood, choose a palette that is inspired by the colors of nature,” explains Claire Garner, director of the Claire Garner Design Studio. “They hug light and natural tones such as soft creams, warm beige, gentle green and subtle rouge pink. These colors result in a feeling of calm and simplicity and complement the rustic charm of natural wood elements, which often contain in Meadowcore decor, perfect.”
Claire continued: “Earthy tones and textures are not just a fleeting trend; they represent a shift to mindful, grounded life. Houses should feel like a sanctuary, and this interior style helps to do this balance.”
In the meantime, Georgia Metcalfe in the French bedroom suggests leaning into flowers as a color palette. She explained: “To style this look at home, choose a soft, romantic palette that is inspired by nature in bloom – think of yellow, soft sage, rouge -pink and corn blue.”
Add gently prints
“Consider the inclusion of wildflower deductions or delicate Gingham prints for textiles such as curtains, pillows and upholstery to improve the cozy aesthetics,” continued Claire.
Dickzy flowers are the obvious choice, but more subtle prints in steamed colors or with low contrasting details also work well.
Layer levels of the textures and fabrics
“The fabrics should be tactile and inviting, from delicate tips and crunchy bed linen to embroidered cotton, which are completed with baked edges,” explains Georgia. “The focus is on flowers, be it in the form of curled bed washes or scattered cushions in printing that reflect the attraction of intentionally untamed English gardens.”
Add vintage and kitsch accessories
“In order for your room Meadowcore charm, concentrate on the handover of textures and the inclusion of bizarre details,” continued Claire Gardener. “Use vintage furniture, flower accents and handmade decor items that give the room character and warmth. They also integrate a lot of natural light and bring elements from the free, such as:
Georgia suggests bringing nature into nature with a light craft. “For a effortlessly romantic feeling, press wild flowers between old books and frame them,” she suggested. “Put over a bed or styled on a dressing table, they become delicate souvenirs that bring the meadow inside.”
How to get the look
They hug unmistakable furniture
“This is a style that includes the art of imperfection so that furniture should be curated and not coordinated,” continued Georgia. “Combine a wooden box with a drawer with a rattan bed and style a dressing table with a collection of valuable heirlooms and freshly gathered flowers.”
Leave natural light in
Lighting is everything when it comes to interiors. If possible, prioritize natural light in rooms with a Meadowcore theme as possible, explains Debbie Leigh, Design Manager at Iliv.
She says: “The key is to keep it light and airy, with many natural light and small details such as wildflower deductions or soft devices inspired with the meadow to cause this pastoral charm.”
Think about how the trend could work in any room
“Meadowcore patterns work in different areas of the house and give warmth and natural touch. In living rooms, they look breathtaking when they are used when they create statement cushions or on scattered cushions,” adds Debbie.
“In bedrooms, bed linen or curtains for wildflower prints or curtains help to create a calm, relaxing atmosphere. For a subtle touch, try botanical table linen or wallpaper feature walls in eating areas. The key balances strong prints with neutral tones for a harmonious appearance.”
Meadowcore in the garden
The Meadowcore trend also means in the garden, especially in the trend of “messy garden”.
“For the garden, Meadowcore leads me to the idea of leaving high -blowing stems. Plants such as Stipa Gigantea (the golden oat) and Verbena bonariensis are used to create screens, or small private areas to hide in a garden,” tell us expert gardener. Claire also suggests that gardeners allow the plants to have the whole late summer themselves in order to be a more natural look in autumn.
“Garden design features can gently colored stone for seating areas and gently winding paths to areas that are surrounded by high seasonal plants,” continued Claire Smith.
“The Meadowcore garden is less about productivity than cottagecore (garden vegetables and cutting beds) as rather for seasonality, loose plants, which are for a large part of the year for a large part of the year for the privacy of the country, wildflowers or plants that can find the boundaries between game and care for privacy.”
“It is less about antiques in the garden and more about what is around us and the feelings that are used to result from the landscape on the landscape. For example, a handy wooden seat to remove our rubber and to hug the imperfection of a gravel path with a flood of seedlings, or a planted leader.”
