Floating over the Ionian Sea on the island of Paxos, Octopussy Villa submits the landscape, reconciled form with external beauty

The full extent of this project can and is best recorded from a boat. Like the tentacles of an ink meat, the architecture between the garden and the forest, unfolds and speaks around the landscape. “We wanted to offer a total experience that gently invites us to leave our daily life behind,” explains the team of the architect, based in Antwerp, behind the architectural manifesto of the design, which is aptly referred to as Octopussy Villa.

In order to fully experience the villa, an all-terrain vehicle is required. Go Gaios, the main port of Paxos, and take the steep paths that descend a hill until you reach a staircase. This opens up to a terrace that signals the moment when the interior and the exterior merge, as if the living space is a transition between the terrace and the garden, the latter announcing the blue sea. “Octopussy himself is an invitation to change your world and to leave your working life behind for the duration of your stay. You will be more than just a owner as a guest of this place,” says Gert Voorjans, who has developed the interiors of the house together, which he describes as one of the magic of sunset. “In this environment, you cannot limit yourself to the interior. Everything contributes to the experience of a place that is bathed by the waves of the Ionian Sea.
