On the Pearl Pass Bridge on the street, which connects the ghost town of Ashcroft with Crested Butte, repairs were completed.
After untreated wood, the road is reopened by the 2010 bridge, which must be repaired in this way.
The bridge was originally built with wood from the surrounding landscape and shortened its lifespan. According to the Pitkin County engineer Andrew Knapp, the 15-year service life of the original bridge is “about as good as they could hope for there”.
By switching to treated wood products that have been delivered to the location, Knapp expects that the new bridge can take longer than 15 years.
In addition to the improved building materials, the new bridge along the bike path has not expected that the road must be closed for “long time”.
According to a Pitkin County PSA, the street drainage around the bridge was also worked, which will also help to improve the lifespan and safety of the street.
