East Haddam –I-Park, the artist program embedded in the forest, invites the public to deal with international artists, to hike through the expansive system of trails with environmental art installations and enjoy live music at two summer events.

The organization in a press release announced events on Sunday, August 3 and Saturday, August 9.

Open Studios – Sunday, August 3rd

From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., guests are invited to meet the six current I-Park artists and visit their private studios.

Between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., artists will be present to share their latest work, to discuss their creative explorations and to give insights into their respective creative disciplines: music composition, visual arts, interdisciplinary practice and creative writing. The artists' presentations take place from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by light refreshments.

Requirements are recommended, although on arrival at the welcome table can register at the welcome table. A donation of $ 15 per adult is proposed.

Meet the artists:

Jonathan Newman is a talented composer who mixes classic shapes with pop, blues and jazz influences. Its dynamic compositions are carried out by orchestras and ensembles from all over the world. His works are known for their emotional accessibility and rhythmic energy.

Sophia Sobers is a visual artist who integrates sound and public art in urban and natural spaces. Your practice examines the intersection of technology and nature and creates immersive environments, which invite you to consider a quiet view.

Emily Gui is an interdisciplinary artist who focuses on climate, consumerism and ethical tensions. Your work extends through pressure graphics, installation and sculpture.

Alice Miceli is a Brazilian photographer who examines landscapes that are characterized by trauma and environmental deterioration. It is recognized internationally for long -term projects that use experimental photographic techniques to visualize the invisible consequences of conflicts and disasters.

Lilliam Rivera is an award -winning author of nine books that include young adults, middle class and graphic fiction. Rivera's stories often concentrate on Latinx identity, girlship and resilience – and it is celebrated for her ability to mix speculative fiction with deeply grounded emotional truth.

Steven Pestana is a conceptual artist who creates immersive environments that question perception. His work combines sculpture, performance and digital media in order to research topics of uncertainty, faith and the limits of understanding.

Open trails & music – Saturday, August 9th

I-Park's Open trails & music The event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., visitors receive a trail card with more than 40 environmental art installations that are integrated into I-Park's Meadows, Woodlands and Waterways.

Most hiking trails are gentle and well marked and enable a relaxed, self -adapted visit, which can only take 45 minutes or can stretch in several hours. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic basket and pull the plug into the natural harbor.

The midnight anthem the stage will be entered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Trio Music is known for its soulful sound and its genre-adberizing style and mixes country, folk, rock, punk and Americana to a performance that swings over generations.

Local honeycomb – described as a somewhat sweeter shoot on the lover of the Valley river Local honey project – will play from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Erin Smith's duo and Abe Wilson has acoustic guitar, harmonies and hand percussion.

The family -friendly outdoor event will also include a scavenger hunt with natural motifs and an interactive drawing table for children and adults alike.

The initiatives for the Community Engagement of I-Parks this year will be supported by grants from the Dominion Energy Charitible Foundation and the Community Foundation of Middlesex County.
