Lake City, Florida (WCJB) – Columbia County Commissioners voted for the approval of engineering services for the first phase of a regional sports complex.
North Florida Professional Services in Columbia County will offer the technical services for the first phase of the construction project.
The first phase will include the entrance road and go into a 16 field flat facility. This facility includes all sports that use a flat field.
The new 500 hectare regional complex will be the first of its kind in Columbia County.

“We primarily want to promote more sport, tourism and ecotourism in the Columbia County region,” says Clint Pittman, landscape and park director.
Pittman hopes that this time construction will start in phase one next year, but no official start date has not been selected.
“The regional park behind us will combine agricultural education and ecotourism with outdoor education,” says Pittman. “Hopefully to work with local agencies such as FWC for various aspects of outdoor formation.
