“Rooted harmony” benches represent the history of Le Roy

In cooperation with the village of Le Roy, the city and country Garden Club of Le Roy invites the public proud to reveal two extraordinary steel benches entitled “Roted Harmony”, a public art installation that celebrates the community, inheritance and the beauty of nature.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at Wiss Lot on the corner of Lake and Main Street (Route 19 and 5) in Le Roy.

The former place of the Wiss Hotel, which was built in 1802 and demolished in 2013, has been transformed into a living green space in recent years, in which seasonal flowers, a 30-foot Christmas tree, yoga, dog training and public events were organized. The Wiss Lot was supplemented by a mural by the local artist Mandy Humphrey and has become an estimated center of culture and community.

The new benches are meticulously made of weatherproof steel from weatherproof steel and are visually on the history of Le Roy from their abolitionist roots and the founding of the first women's university in the USA to local innovations such as The String Less Green Bean and the invention of Jell-O.
