The progress continues at the American Legion Baseball Field von Stuttgart, where a local group of Robert Spellmeyer enters time, energy and resources in the revival of the historical park.

Since Spellmeyer provided an update about the renovation work of the complex at the beginning of this year, he has been satisfied with how much has been achieved.

“We have had a pretty good way since last time,” said Spellmeyer. “The renovation of the concession stand has been completed and we have installed new gates and decorative fences. Basis was installed and our new outdoor field windshield was installed.”

It is currently planned to pause further renovation work, while the group is moving to the use of the renovated facility.

“We took the renovation work as far as possible at this point,” said Spellmeyer. “We would like to go on and start replacing the lighting of the field, but unfortunately it is a little outside of our current means.”

At the beginning of this summer, a new windshield was installed in the outer field.

With regard to the future, an unusually rainy season has delayed some of the events originally planned for the park.

“The weather was definitely plagued by us this spring,” said Spellmeyer. “With heavy rain it has covered various field preparations, but it takes a few years. I think the weather has set a damper on baseball this year!”

Spellmeyer announced that his group later in discussions this year to organize baseball and softball clinics in the park. Some events are already planned, although the data has not yet been completed.

“We hope to have these clinics in the books in the coming weeks,” said Spellmeyer.

Inauguration ceremony planned for July 26th

A confirmed event is the official Field Widing Ceremony, which is planned for Saturday, July 26th at 9 a.m., hopes that many community members will take part.

“At the inauguration ceremony we will have a ribbon and a ceremonial first pitch. We will have a live singing of the national anthem and a baseball game that we can follow.”

Spellmeyer said you will also honor the families whose names are on the field during the event.

In addition, he recognized four business sponsors who played a key role in the renovation efforts.

At the beginning of this year, new sponsorship signs were placed on the Crawford Field.

In May, the Park Students organized the Avenue Elementary Park as a reward for good behavior.

“The children played kickball and helped us find out what works and what doesn't,” said Spellmeyer. “I think it was a success.”
