The city of Denver takes great steps towards its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Energize Denver program is an essential initiative.
What is energy densver?
Energize densver is a building policy that plays a crucial role in achieving Denvers goal to eliminate emissions by 2040. The program sets the energy requirement for existing commercial buildings within the city limits of Denver.
Commercial buildings are asked to reduce their energy consumption intensity (Eui). Eui is a measure of the energy consumption of one building per square foot. Energy Denver covers two building sizes: 5,000 to 24,999 square foot and 25,000 square foot and larger. Larger buildings correspond to an energy efficiency destination for each building based on benchmarking data that has been reported from the building since 2017, and the building to improve energy efficiency through operating and device improvements. So that these larger buildings can achieve a compliance, you either have to prove that you decide with your benchmarking reports or develop a plan and submit how to achieve your goals over time.
It is important to note that buildings between 5,000 and 24,999 square foot have different requirements. The owners can reduce the energy consumption through LED lighting options or improve energy sources by investing in the system in the area or more outside of renewable energies in order to compensate for the annual energy consumption of the system or more.
Energize densver has expanded the schedules for compliance. The compliance periods are now being extended to 2028 and 2032, whereby the possibilities for applying for compliance or extensions over 2032 are exceeded. There are also other recent changes, including lower penalties, extended financial support, clear compliance steps and more resources and cooperation.
Why choose solar for the Denver requirements for energy?
There are several ways to reduce your Eui and meet the requirements for energy, and the installation of solar to compensate for energy consumption has a significant impact on the Eui and its end result. For example, Energize Denver office building has assigned a target EUI of 48.3. According to the benchmarking card, most office buildings are currently on site Eui from 41-80. A typical 30,000 square meter office roof can absorb a 200 kW sun system that generates sufficient electricity to reduce the building of the building by 33. This is enough to bring many of these properties into compliance.
In view of the available tax benefits, savings and incentive income, a commercial solar investment and an asset from 30 years in 7-9 years with an internal return of 10%(IRR) will usually burn in 7-9 years. It is a win-win situation!
You can also enjoy all other advantages of solar: increased real estate value, stabilized energy costs, reduced dependence on fossil fuels and a positive marketing option.
Note: If you are a building owner, that's leasing At NNN tenants, don't worry! You and your tenants can still use the financial advantages of Solar.
You have my attention, what now?
For 98% of the buildings of over 25,000 square foot, the Targets from Energize Denver are between 2028 and 2032. The final period in 2032 will be here before we know it. From advice to installation, a commercial solar system takes time. We encourage you to start now so that you can skip the fines and achieve a return for your investment.
If you search for a AdviceYou will be asked for some basic information.
