Sunreef Yacht has introduced a New Age solar technology that uses artificial intelligence to maximize energy generation under all sailing conditions. Olivia Palamountain reports
Sunreef Yacht launched the third generation of its proprietary solar technology, which contains artificial intelligence to optimize energy production, even if they are partially shaded by sail or yacht structure.
The new solar Skin 3.0 system represents “an important milestone in the marine solar innovation”, which achieves the highest possible efficiency with silicon solar cells and incorporates intelligent characteristics that adapt dynamically to the sailing conditions.
Sunreef Yachts CTO Nicolas Lapp, Explains: “The Latest Generation of our Solar Skin Technology Offers Top Efficiency-Currently the Highest Attainable for Silicon Cells-Marking A Major Milestone in Marine Solar Innovation. Leveraging Machine Learning Algorithms and Real-Time from Sunreef Catamaran's operating in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Dubai, We are to continuously refine panel placement and optimize energy yield. ” The system was fully developed and manufactured in its own house, whereby each panel acted as an “intelligent unit, which dynamically adjusted the electrical output in order to alleviate the shading effects from sailing and superstructures and to significantly increase system efficiency in the winter months”.
The layout of the solar system was designed using algorithms for machine learning, analyzing real usage data in order to determine the optimal placement of the panel. In addition, the Yacht Bimini areas now have the next generation photovoltaic cells especially for shaded environments and improve energy generation under less ideal lighting conditions.
Building on the previous solar Skin 2.0 technology, which has already been recognized for its durability and thermal stability at temperatures above 100 ° C, the new system maintains these robust features and complements intelligent earnings optimization functions.Sunreef Yachten, which was founded in 2002 by the French entrepreneur Francis Lapp, positioned itself as a pioneer for sustainable luxury yachts. The company produces ships from its shipyards in Gdansk, Poland and Ras Al Khaimah, VAE, with a global network of sales offices.
The company's environmentally friendly references have attracted top-class customers, including tennis star Rafael Nadal and the Formula 1 master Fernando Alonso. Its eco-area combines electrical drive, smart energy management, advanced solar modules and ethically distributed materials.
