June 7 Green Home Tours present household sustainability

Tour local houses to see how they were upgraded to reduce the use of fossil fuels and water and at the same time improve comfort, air quality and resilience indoors.

See the houses in Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito and Oakland with all-electric devices, solar collectors, batteries, electric vehicles, greywater systems and rainwater catchment areas.

During the tour on June 7, you can get to know each other via energy-efficient technologies, discounts, tax credits, vehicle-to-home-to-home fees for power failures, sustainable building materials, solar and much more.

Information on available incentives, contractors and no-cost services can help you evaluate your own house electrification plan. You will also get to know homeowners who have built climate -friendly houses.

Register as a volunteer to serve as a welcome at one of the many tour locations. No experience is required.

Discover environmentally friendly houses up close

You can choose from 25 East Bay Homes – 10 of which are in Berkeley – to see features up close and speak to local home owners. During the tour, which is organized in cooperation with non -profit acerra in Bay Area, registrants can experience the sustainable characteristics and systems of every apartment first -hand.

All houses on the tour are partially or completely electrified. Environmental-polluting gas devices were replaced by efficient, fully electric alternatives such as heat pumps and induction stoves, which are powered by Alameda County, the power provider AVA Community Energy, the Tour Sponsor.

Green Home Tours supports the city's climate goals

The establishment of electrification supports the fossil goals of the city, the city's climate protection plan and the strategic plan of the city, “a leading world's leading market leader in combating climate change, to promote environmental justice and the protection of the environment”. The city has a roadmap for those who are interested in the electrification of their building with the existing strategy for building electrification.

In April 2025, the city changed its building emissions savings regulation to oblige the owners of real estate to carry out energy-efficient upgrades. For example, the replacement of a gas hot water pate with a heat pump or make a deposit with the city in order to cover compliance with compliance with the sales costs at the time of sale. This change will come into force on January 1, 2026.
