A (pool) party with the barn

After 25 years in New York City, Alex Cass, his wife and two children aged 9 and 12 left Brooklyn for a seven hectare of land in the small rural city of Roxbury, Connecticut. “We were all ready to get out of the city,” says Cass. “It was a good change in the lifestyle for us.” Shortly after moving into their fully renovated farmhouse from the 19th century, the coffers installed an inground swimming pool 20 by 40 feet. “We wanted a place where we entertain, relax and play in the sun and play for a long time,” says Cass. They considered whether they convert an existing four-stable horses barn into a pool house, but when the renovation work proved to be costly, they chose a wooden frame pool from the Scheunenhof.

The headquarters in Ellington, Connecticut, with a shop in Bethel, Connecticut, was founded in 1984 as a building contractor prefabricated warehouse shed, but has since expanded to larger, customizable buildings, including barns, garages and pavilions. “We design it on the computer, and everything is cut to CNC machines so that it is very Prezisch,” says Chris Skinner, Vice President of the company, Chris Skinner. “But the really cool part is that you still pass authentic wooden frames with Mortish & Tenon -Tischlerei for the test of the time.”

The cash register was familiar with the high -quality reputation of the Scheunenhof and wanted to avoid building something from scratch. They chose the one -story one -story pool house of 20 by 28 feet, a relatively new addition to the catalog of the Scheunenhof. “We have had a number of pool houses in our smaller scales in the past 20 years, but when people invest more in their backyards, they wanted a larger option,” says Skinner. The Montauk is constructed using a clear tension change wood binder design, which eliminates the need for interior posts. “We have created a wide -open room that is more functional for entertainment and can easily flow outwards from interior,” says Skinner.

The company provided the health insurers a full range of technical plans for the building and the foundation. “Every customer receives a committed project manager. If his other contractors have questions, he has a direct contact line in our company to take you through the steps,” says Skinner. The project lasted six months from start to finish, but the crew of the Scheunenhof completed the building on site in just eight days. “It was fascinating to see,” says Cass. “The entire pre-cut wood that was delivered was numbered, almost like a Lego set for the crew, to put it together.”

The health insurers have adapted the Montauk design with a nana alleys with a view of the pool and in an allusion to the past of the property to a sliding door on the opposite wall in order to optimize the ventilation. The interior includes a wet bar with a refrigerator and a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. “We wanted to avoid children with wet bathing suits from the main house to use the toilet,” says Cass. The floor is a natural bluestone tile that extends to the pool terrace, where you often set up your folding pong table for tournaments.

Now the Cass family works again with the Scheunenhof to build a warehouse. “I think it speaks for themselves that we return customers so quickly,” says Cass. “The entire process was very smooth. It was fantastic to work with it.”
