From the architect: “The project realizes an original Brunswick Heads Beach Cottage, which offers a modern addition to a classic Australian street scene of the 1970s. A new half-stage is added at the top and under the existing (increased) house with a split level, so that four split levels are connected via a central staircase.
“The house was designed for a family of four who was interested in living in an unconventional but small building footprint. Each half -level level has its own personal connection to a series of gardens, including attic gardens and a garden gap that provides every level with its own unique atmosphere.
“The covered outdoor area is pushed out of the building, not only the garden gap, but also the winter sun over the one-story kitchen/living wing and fall into the room.
“The primary EN suite is designed as an outer space without a window, which defines a direct connection to the roof garden. Scharnler wooden screens can be set so that they control light and privacy in the area.”
