The old Universal Orlando signs have been removed and construction is currently underway to replace them with new digital signs.

Universal announced in October that all five street signs would be replaced. The new signs will have a similar design, with Universal Orlando Resort in the center against a blue background. But instead of the silver panels fanning out from the logo, there will be LED screens displaying various videos, animations and information, including images of IPs.

Pictured above is the former sign at the corner of Universal Boulevard and Hollywood Way, near the entrance to the Universal Orlando parking garage.

The sign is now gone and there is a grate around the site. The black fabric features the Universal Orlando Resort logo and skyline.

The ornamental bushes and the red flowers remain in front of the clutch. Although we couldn't see through the grille, the old sign appears to have been completely removed.

There is another sign across the street at Universal Boulevard and Hollywood Way.

It was the same story at the corner of Vineland Road and Universal Boulevard. Pictured above is the old sign as well as the trellis and fencing in the same area. We could see through this fabric and it was clear that the sign was gone. No structural elements for the new sign were yet visible.

Last we checked was South Kirkman Road and Major Boulevard. We were able to see through these meshes again and confirmed that the old sign had been removed.

Here, too, it became clear that parts of the new sign still had to be attached.

The last sign we didn't pass is at Turkey Lake Road and Hollywood Way.

Universal has not announced an official construction schedule.
