Covington, va. (VR) – The city of Covington moves with considerable upgrades to the Mid City Mall parking lot to improve liveability in the city center and support local companies. This project is part of a broader initiative to revive the city center and a accessible, more attractive community.
City Manager Allen Dressler was at the head of this project, which started about a year and a half ago. The plan contains several important improvements in the area.
The crews are currently pouring new sidewalks in the parking lot. These sidewalks improve accessibility and aesthetics. Although not yet in progress, a new paving for the parking lot is planned as part of the project.
The upgrades also deal with drainage problems to ensure that the water of companies does not flow to sidewalks. Instead, it is connected to the storm outflow system. The project also includes the exchange and upgrade of the sewage system and the separation of rainwater from the sanitary channel to improve the total infrastructure efficiency.
Every company has an accessible entrance that makes the area more integrative for all citizens.
In order to improve the visual attraction of the area, the plan includes adding decorative fence at certain areas with planters and flowers. In cooperation with the city of Clifton Forge and the Chamber of Commerce, new path -finding signs are installed in order to lead visitors to points.
“We create a beautiful, walk -in city center,” said Dressler. “The goal is to have a pulsating area where people like to walk around, feel good and feel safe.”
This upgrade is part of the efforts of Covington to achieve the name “Main Street” in Virginia Main Street, and complements other improvements such as work in the Maple Avenue and the development of the Hotel Collins Park.
While there may be some temporary inconveniences during the construction, the long -term advantages are expected to outweigh short -term disorders by far. The project team works closely with companies in the city center to minimize the effects and ensure cooperation throughout the process.
The upgrade of the parking lot in Mid City Mall is more than just a facelifting. It is proof of Covington's commitment to the creation of a viable, attractive community that the residents can be proud of, and visitors want to explore.
