Last year, when the fifth group converted the original El Taco in Ela, a Mediterranean restaurant in Virginia-Highland, the walk-in community lost its family-friendly terrace struggle. On February 26, a new Mexican spot opened directly opposite the parking lot. Referred to Rosa, DBA Barbecue replaced it in the North Highland Avenue. Rosa is owned by the Brandon and Zach Hancock brothers and serves Tacos, Enchiladas, Burritos and Fajitas in a casual atmosphere.
“We want it to be a place where people can bring their children and have a good time,” says Brandon. “We are a restaurant in the neighborhood that serves familiar food.”
Although the Hancocks are not Mexican, they hired a Mexican cook, Gilberto Ramirez, who used family recipes for Rosa's dishes. Ramirez previously worked with Brandon at Hal's the Steakhouse. Zach also has a hospitality background and gains experience in the four seasons.

Rosa currently only offers dinner and offers snackable starters such as guacamole, cheese dip as well as avocado and Tomatillo salo. Street Tacos come in the house on corn tortillas. The proteins include Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Carnitas and grilled chicken. Everyone is crowned with onions and coriander. Expect a house salad, a rice bowl, a chicken soup and the popular Charro bean soup with a rich broth. The latter can be ordered alone or replaced by black or sought -after beans. Children can choose from tacos, quesadillas or enchiladas – from which events are equipped with a churro for dessert.
“We grew up in a local Mexican restaurant – Aspektka Grill am Südside – Multiple Multient Week,” explains Zach. “We don't want to reinvent the wheel. It is just a room that is a bit more beautiful than some other Mexican restaurants in the city. “

The Hancocks updated the aesthetics of the room, painted it with elements made of green and salmon and added new tiles. There are two televisions behind the bar and one on the 60-seater heating. As the name suggests, roses are prominent and illuminate the terrace.
The beverage menu has six Margaritas and seven other cocktails and two non -alcoholic options. Try the green thumb, which consists of tequila, mezcal, coriander, mint, pineapple, jalapeno, lime and a touch of agave. The beers include Dos Equis, Creppen comfort, half of the crooks and inner types of language. Additional options are available in the bottle and can. There are also eight wines that are sold by the glass.
Reservations are not accepted.
