Sun lighting

The plans for installing solar lighting at three locations in the far north were approved by the Kaikohe-Hokianga Community Board at its meeting in February.

The first location takes place at the Marino Court in Kaikohe next to the EV charging station, an area of the city that is busy both traffic and pedestrians.

The second will be on the ōMāpere Freese Park playground and the third location is located on the ōPononi Walkway at Fairlie Crescent End and is planned for the 2026/27 financial year.

There are already plans for the installation of bollards and other measures to prevent access to the vehicle to the sidewalk. The location for the lights is decided as soon as the other work has been completed.
