Members of the city and country garden clubs met on Tuesday, February 4th, for their monthly meetingTH in the Miller building. A delicious chilli lunch from hostesses Linda Hicks and Sue Brusenham was enjoyed by 23 members and 3 guests.
The meeting began with an outstanding program by Tiffany Holland, the owner of Wilda's wildflowers and gifts in Cross Plains. Tiffany explained interesting facts about the flower industry and then put together a wonderful arrangement for Valentine's Day and demonstrated good techniques and materials that were used in a quality arrangement. President Jane Price then carried out the part of the meeting. Roll was called by Secretary Jennifer Short and the protocol was approved as a hand mail. Karen Franco presented the treasurer's report. Mandy Martin then gave the good error/bad error information for the month and Jennifer Short presented the artistic design. The District Trustee Nan Markland gave a short update about the status of the State Garden Cub Headquarters. Angela Lewis, Director VIII director, were among the special guests for the meeting, and she invited the group to participate in the Spring Assembly of District VIII on March 21stst San Angelo and the TGC Spring Convention take place in Nacogdoches from April 1 to 4, 2025. She also announced that Michelle Terry, member of the city and country Garden Club, as director of the new district VIII. In another business, the nomination committee presented the nominations for the officials of the local club for 2025-2027 were accepted unanimously. The new officers installed at the May meeting are President-Karen Franco, secretary Mandy Martin and treasurer Lynn Schoondangel.
The meeting was then postponed. The next meeting will take place on March 4thTH In the Miller building and interested people are always invited to be present.
